In order to include an image in a post, you have to store the image somewhere on the Internet. (See the *Note at the end of this post.) If you have access to a server where you can store photos or other images, you will need the URL (including the complete filepath to the image location).

If you don't have access to a server, you can use a free image hosting service like Photobucket, wherein you set up a free account and store your images there. Then you'll have a unique URL for each image.

Once you've stored the image on a server or an image hosting service, it will have a unique URL. I'll be referring to the URL — the actual Internet address where the image is stored — for the rest of this How-To post. Here's the procedure:

  1. Copy the URL for your image to your computer's clipboard (Command-C for Mac, Control-C for Windows/Linux). For Photobucket photos, use the "Direct Link" (see How To Copy A Photobucket Link).

  2. In the Fraternex post composition window, click on the "Image" button:

  3. The image insertion dialog opens.

  4. Place the cursor in the URL text box and click once to activate the text entry cursor in the box.

  5. Paste the image URL into the text box (Command-V for Mac, Control-V for Windows/Linux). The link appears in the text box.

  6. Click OK.

  7. The composer inserts the image link into your post at the end of the current content you've already entered...

...and then the composer snaps the scroll bar back up to the top of the composer window...a real pain in the ass, because you won't see the URL pasted at the end of your message, and you might think it didn't work...but it did.

  8. Scroll down to the end of the composer window to find the image link. If you want to place it somewhere other than at the end of the message, just drag across it with the cursor to highlight it, like this...

...and then copy and paste it wherever you want to place it in your message.
If you have trouble, send a PM to the Fraternex Janitor and he'll try to help.

    *Note
Since I posted this message, I've turned on the Gallery feature, so you can use that to upload photos and insert them into your posts. Alternatively, you can use the built-in image hosting feature. If y'all can't figure out how it works, lemmee know and I'll post a set of How-To instructions.
